Students will use an interactive number line to solve an equation that models a real world problem. They will determine which value of x makes the equation true and how this relates to the answer to the problem.
Then students will modify the equation to represent a new real world problem. They will again use the number line to find the x-value that makes the equation true. For both problems, students will discuss how the possible x-values are restricted.
