Students use interactive Graphs & Geometry pages to investigate solutions to systems of linear equations and inequalities. They will first look at a single inequality and determine when a point does and does not satisfy the inequality. The moving of the point on the screen to different regions reinforces the idea of using a test point to determine the solution(s).

Then students move on to a system of equations and a system of inequalities. By clicking the slider arrows, they can change the symbol of the inequality. The test point will display "The Solution" or "A Solution" when it is in the solution set. With the test point, students will learn that the solution set is where the shading of both inequalities overlap and that all points within the solution set make both inequalities true.

Students will test several different systems, including a system of parallel lines. They will be able to test what they have learned when they are given a graph of two inequalities and have to determine what the inequalities are.
