Students will discover that the zeros of a polynomial function are the zeros of its linear factors. Students will be able to visualize the connection between the linear factors and the zeros by manipulating the coefficients of the linear factors.
Students will start out by identifying the zeros of the linear factors of a quadratic function in comparison to the function itself. They will then examine the zeros of a cubic function. This lesson merges graphical and algebraic representations of a polynomial function and its linear factors.
