In this activity, students will use the sliders to investigate the effects of the parameters a, b, and c on parent functions. They will look at more basic functions first, such as f(x) = x2 and the absolute value of x.

Students will continue to investigate more difficult functions such as periodic and exponential functions. After looking at all of the functions and completing a table with their observations, students will summarize their findings to generate rules for the effects of the parameters on any type of function.
