Students will apply what they know about angle-side relationships in triangles to "e;build"e; a roof truss, which is in the shape of a triangle. When they are given only the lengths of the three pieces of wood, students will determine that the largest piece is opposite the largest angle, the next largest piece is opposite the next largest angle, and the smallest piece is opposite the smallest angle.

When given an alteration of the blue print, students will confirm what they learned in the previous problem, and determine that three sides with certain lengths cannot form two or more different triangles.
