Angle-Side Relationships in Triangles

Posted on Oct 1, 2009

Topic: Triangles & Congruence

Students are given three angles and three segments and directed to try to form a triangle by attaching the different angles to the longest segment. They will determine for which setups form a triangle and whether it makes a difference where the longest side is located in the triangle.

Students are given three angles and three segments and directed to try to form a triangle by attaching the different angles to the longest segment. They will determine for which setups form a triangle and whether it makes a difference where the longest side is located in the triangle.

Given new angles and segments, students use what they have learned to build a triangle. Then, given angle measures and one side length without a picture, students will determine which side length choices are possible for the missing side lengths. They will also determine possible missing angle measures given side lengths.
