Students will observe how changing the values in a rational function affects the continuity of the graph of the function. By manipulating the values, students will explain how the values in a rational function determine the vertical asymptotes.
After examining the values in a rational function that determine the vertical asymptotes, they will then explore removable discontinuities. Students will determine what conditions must be true for a rational function to have a hole, or removable discontinuity.
